This is something I've meant to share with you for a couple of weeks. The story goes like this:
In our church group we did a wood project of "give thanks" and "too spooky" which was cut out and the ladies modge podged the project together.
The second project was done in another part of the building -- we etched names into glass casserole dishes.
Stay with me now.
I have some wedding gifts to make for special friends' children. I bought the glassware, cut out the last name in vinyl, and went to work etching. Had the Monday night all reserved for this. No interruptions.
Well, I carefully applied the etching cream, tried not to get any where it didn't belong, and touched it up periodically. I left it on for twice the length of time that the instructions called for.
Drum roll please ....
Carefully rinsing it off, trying not to get the etching cream on my fingers, "TA DA" and NOTHING was ETCHED! NOTHING AT ALL!
Grr. Why did Roberts sell me old etching cream? Why do I have all the bad luck. To the rescue, I call my dear friend Emily. Emily says, "You go take that back to Roberts." I tell her I will. Why, no one should take advantage of a nice lady like me and sell old stuff.
Ok, next day.
I decide to do the scientific method and give it a try, one more time, so I can indeed go and explain the whole laborious incident.
First step. Cut out the names.
Second step. Get the different jar of etching cream.
Stay with me for one more minute.
The etching cream - was etching cream. The first etching cream I used - was MODGE PODGE. Guess who was the fool? You take a guess and you can fill in the blanks!
The moral of the story: Everyone makes mistakes. Don't be hard on others or yourself. Have a good night.
